Im offiziellen Musikvideo – gedreht unter der Regie von Dave Meyers (Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar) – sehen wir Ed, wie wir ihn noch nie zuvor gesehen haben: als Vampir-Alter-Ego seiner selbst. Sein charakteristisches rotes Haar ist weiß gefärbt, seine Zähne zu Reißzähnen verwandelt. Der schwarze Humor der Handlung ist eine Metapher auf „bad habits“, schlechte Angewohnheiten also, während Ed sich mit seiner Crew aus Schauergestalten auf eine wilde Partynacht begibt – bevor er sich am nächsten Morgen in sein wahres (rothaariges) Ich zurückverwandelt, als die Sonne über ihm aufgeht.
Ed Sheeran: „Fühlt sich großartig an, mit meiner neuen Single zurück zu sein. Ich wollte, dass sich das Video zu ‚Bad Habits’ auf eine fantastische Art und Weise mit der Natur von Gewohnheiten auseinandersetzt, daher entschied ich mich für Vampire. Es hat mega Spaß gemacht, in die Rolle zu schlüpfen – wenn man mal von den Höhen absieht (das war weniger lustig). „Bad Habits“ ist Ed Sheerans erste offizielle Veröffentlichung seit seinem „No.6 Collaborations Project“, das 2019 erschien und u.a. Platz 1 im UK und den USA und Platz 2 in Deutschland erreichte.
